Let the evil spirits be gone! People hop over flames at Bonfires of Saint John festival in Spain

Hundreds of people gathered in Alcobendas, north of Madrid, on Sunday to take part in The Bonfires of Saint John festival celebrated in Spain and around the world. The common feature of festivities is jumping over bonfires which came from pagan cultures where it was believed to ward off evil spirits.

Uranus (unorthodox) conjunct Vesta (associated with spiritual truth, cultural values, known as the "keeper of the flame" exuding warmth and good feeling). Venus (social activities) opposite Jupiter (ritual).

Participants often make a wish while jumping but sometimes they overestimate their skills and end up landing in bonfire and being helped by firefighters. The traditional festival coincides with midsummer celebrations around the world just days after the Summer solstice on June 21
