Zimbaqua mine is a mine that employs women who mine aquamarine stones. The mine was set up by it's founders three years ago who were keen to train women and give them opportunities to earn and make a decent living for themselves.

15 women joined the project, and since then the mine is being successfully run by 35 women to date.

The jewellery line will include necklaces, bracelets, and rings, and will showcase the stones that the women mine.

The team are keen to open up more opportunities for others within their local community, by expanding and employing more women in the future.

Rumbidzai Gwinji manages the mine, she shared her story with Newsday, adding how her daughter feels about her mother running the mine: "She's very proud, and she's always talking about it to her friends, and she now knows that she can do more in the community, and she now knows that it's possible as a woman to actually work -and make a positive change in the community".
