Cempasuchil flower has been linked with Day of the Dead celebrations, and this year over one million flowers will cover the demand of Mexico City and the surrounding areas.

The workers were seen watering the flowers with care. According to Noel Romero a flower grower, his plantation has 110.000 flowers.

"Here we have 60 thousand pots. In total we have 110 thousand because we have a 3-inch pot, smaller," he said.

Romero added that not all the plantation is his, but its a common enterprise between different parties.

"As it is a challenge, it is a common goal because not everything is mine, this plant belongs to a group, to a family. This is what cempasúchil represents: a family, a union," he said.

The Day of the Dead is marked across Mexico as a way to remember lost friends and relatives, with families offering food, drinks and prayers to the spirits of their loved ones who come back for this one day to celebrate with the living.
