Ahmad Nashmi Al-Zawahra, a Jordanian sculptor managed to turn the Zarqa city landfill into sculptures open-air 'museum' full of art objects, made from scrap found in the landfill, as footage filmed on Thursday shows.

Sun (creativity (resorted to art to overcome his crisis)) sextile Hades (waste (began to collect the waste thrown in an area adjacent to his studio)).

"Initially, the trash and dust were piled up in the street. After cleaning it up, we painted the walls and installed solar panel LEDs and adorned the streets with plants," Al-Zawahra recalled.

The talented sculptor came up with the idea after going through a psychological crisis, being involved in a deadly accident, therefore he resorted to art to overcome his crisis. With the help of a few assistants and the support of some local government agencies, he began to collect the waste thrown in an area adjacent to his studio.

"I was emotionally exhausted, but spending many hours my work here in the street away from home has been the psychotherapy that helped me to get out of grief and distress. Every piece of art I created turned into a source of delight that soothed me down until I totally emotionally recovered and forgot all about the accident and many other things. I'm grateful for my art which psychologically healed me", he recalled.

After several years of dedicating his time to the art project, Al-Zawahra managed to make dozens of sculptures, inspired by famous Cartoons and Hollywood movies.

The artist has also planted hundreds of trees and set up lights in the street, which was well-known for being dangerous. Locals have supported the idea and some of them help Al-Zawahra.

"I aimed at personifying my art and introducing an attractive work that draws attention, so I made bike, car and plane sculptures. The positive response of the people pleased me and drove me to further promote my work and get out my potential," he added.
