I’m sad to say that this eruption starts extremely strong and the magma
flow is likely over 100 cub.m.pr. sec. and the fissure length is close
to 4km. I don’t think it’s one single soul from Grindavík sleeping
tonight while the town begs its fate and we can only hope for a good
outcome since lava barriers hold for only so long, and this amount of
lava is simply hard to deal with.
Pluto (volcanoes, earthquakes) opposite Vulcanus (great amounts of sustained force, intense power, violent eruptions) square Haumea (lava cooling in the sea to make land (this amount of lava is simply hard to deal with)).
We did however get good news shortly before 03:00 GMT from the Coast Guard helicopter that confirmed that lava is currently not on the way to town that has been evacuated since November 10th. We remain hopeful!
