Mice can recognize themselves in a mirror, according to a new study from the University of Texas.
Mercury (scientific) sextile Gonggong (mirrors (the study found that mice that had been marked with white ink on their heads spent more time grooming in front of a mirror)).
The study found that mice that had been marked with white ink on their
heads spent more time grooming in front of a mirror than mice that had
not been marked.
This suggests that the mice were trying to remove the ink, which they would only do if they knew that it was there.
The researchers also found that mice that had been raised around other mice that looked like them were more likely to pass the mirror test than mice that had been raised in isolation. This suggests that self-awareness is a social phenomenon.
